DON’T RUSH THE DESIGN PROCESS

The intersection of colour, materials, form, light, acoustics and plants (and possibly water) all contribute to a pleasing, healing and inviting space, whether it be a residential, or a corporate environment.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻/𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲; 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀.

Once I achieve this, the second layer of design is having conversations with my clients to learn how I can help them to (re)introduce a design style that will evoke: the emotions they want to experience in their new space, joy and create a sense of well-being.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗰. 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝘀𝗸 𝗺𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 - 𝗶𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿... 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗶𝘁'𝘀 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲..

𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝗜 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗿𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 - 𝗪𝗵𝘆?

If you've never been through a design selection process, being presented with one or two design palettes can be overwhelming for some: showing various fabrics, tile options, floor plans, furniture styles, and lighting options.

It necessitates time to mull over, leave for a few days and return to it with fresh eyes and perhaps with a new mindset to reconsider a fabric, let's say, that you poo-poo'd the first time.
𝙄 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙣 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙘𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙛𝙖𝙘𝙩, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙖𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙬𝙚 𝙬𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙤𝙥𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙧𝙚𝙦𝙪𝙚𝙨𝙩, 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙘𝙞𝙧𝙘𝙡𝙚𝙙 𝙗𝙖𝙘𝙠 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝙛𝙖𝙗𝙧𝙞𝙘 𝙄 𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙙!

The design process will definitely leave you with an expanded perspective on what you like now - and maybe you hadn't considered before, or never thought you liked. If this sounds unlikely and profound, it's true and it is, IMHO.

How we design and decorate our homes, our most intimate sanctuaries, is a reflection of who we are, where we're at in life, puts on display what we value, and provides a showcase to display our personalities.
